Resume Mistakes That Can Hurt Your Job Search
The recurring issues we see most: duty-based bullets, missing context, inconsistent dates and formatting that hides key information.

Describing duties instead of results
"Responsible for managing the reporting process" tells a reader nothing about scale or outcome. State what you did, at what scope, and what changed as a result.
Missing context
Team size, budget, region, customer volume and system scale are what let a reader calibrate your experience. Without them, strong roles read as ordinary.
Inconsistent chronology
Mixed date formats, unexplained gaps and overlapping roles slow a reader and create doubt. Use one format, and account for time honestly.
Formatting that hides the content
Dense blocks, tiny type and decorative columns push your strongest evidence out of the first scan. Structure is a readability decision before it is an aesthetic one.
